A Kitschmas Surprise!!

Coming up with completely new  DIY ideas is a very challenging task, especially for Christmas since one would imagine that everything imaginable has been created in one sweet form or another.

Personally, I LOVE Christmas tree ornaments and I collect them at grand scale. If it's hand made, exclusive, beautiful with lots of bling, I'm in!

Suddenly we had the idea of making our own Christmas tree cookie ornaments, but in 3D as opposed to the simpler traditional 2D version.  And.....with a SURPRISE INSIDE!! :-)

So after lots and lots of trial and error, we finally cracked the code and came up with the solution. We have it for you, right here in tutorial form. Give it a personal touch by playing with the wide range of metallic paint colors, by spicing up the surprise inside and making it fun or simply by adorning your ornament with sugar pearls or stenciled designs.
Either way, this project is loads of fun and a sure way to please the people you give it to!

Enjoy the Kitschmas Surprise!!

Presenting Italian Meringue Buttercream

Here it is: Our VERY FIRST video ever! Although it took one week and a half to make, we are extremely happy with the results. Here you will find step by step instructions on how to make the absolute best buttercream EVER: Italian Meringue.

It is without a doubt the best topping for your cupcakes, the best filling for your macarons, and the best filling for your cakes. It is not too sweet, has a silky smooth texture. When it hits your mouth, THE SKY OPENS AND THE ANGELS SING!!

Not easy to make (I personally failed dozens of times before I got it right....), I am convinced it is worth the effort to try and try again, even if it means killing 10kg of butter (the hardest hit victim when the recipe fails).

So go ahead and give it a try. With this basic recipe you can branch out and hit every flavor of the rainbow. For example:

- add the best quality cacao powder you can possibly get your hands on and be prepared to become a chocoholic's best friend

- make your own sweet and tart raspberry puree and add it to the mix at the end (make sure to use a strainer to keep the seeds out for better texture).

- add the zest and juice of 2 squeezed lemons  an amaaaazingly tangy lemon buttercream taste.

- experiment with Bailey's Irish Cream, Coffee, Champagne...whatever strikes your fancy!

This recipe ROCKS! End of story:-)

We hope you will try it out and succeed!

Big hugs,

Happy Easter from the Crazy Chicks!!

Hello everyone! Would like to share with you one of our personal favorite tutorials we made just for Easter "Crazy Chicks".
The special thing about them is the creation of a gumpaste eggshell, where your actual cupcake case will be nesting.
It wasn't easy at first, but once you manage to make the mold, it's easy peasy after that.

Hope you enjoy this as much as we did and feel free to share! You can find the link here:

Happy Easter to all the Crazy Chicks out there!!  :-D
